Data backup is another mechanism for
storing your notes in addition to syncing with Google Drive. Unlike
synchronization with Google Drive, backup does not work constantly in
the background, and only contains data by the time of saving. That is,
if you saved notes in the archive, and then changed them, then the
changes will not be reflected in the archive. But, unlike
synchronization with Google Drive, you do not need an Internet
connection to create a backup.
What you can use backup archiving for:
- To back up notes. Some people don't trust cloud storage like
Google Drive. In this case, you can regularly save backups in archives.
- To quickly transfer data to another device. You can save the
backup archive to an SD card or move it to another device in some other
way.
How it works?
- To create a backup archive, click the "Save" button.
- In the window that opens, click the button for choosing a save location
.
- Select the location where you want to save the archive. This
could be the phone's internal memory, SD card, external storage, or
some other location. The list of places to save the archive depends on
the specific device, settings and version of Android.
IMPORTANT! |
When creating a backup
archive, not only the notes themselves, but also attachments are
included in it! If your notes contain many large attachments, the
archive size can be large. Therefore, when choosing a storage location,
make sure that there is enough free space to create the archive. |
- After choosing the location to save the archive, the "Start"
Button is enabled. After clicking this button, the creation of the
backup archive will start. During the creation of the archive, it is
advisable not to turn off the phone and not switch to other
applications.
- When the process of creating an archive is completed, a
corresponding inscription will appear. In same time, a file of the
format: mnbDDMMYYYY-HHMM.zip will appear in the storage location you
have chosen, where DDMMYYYY-HHMM is the date and time of the archive
creation. Thus, all backup archives has unique names!
ATTENTION! |
The
application does not delete old archives! A large number of archives
can take up a large amount of space. You can delete unnecessary
archives, for example, using the "Files" application. |
- In order to restore notes from the saved backup archive, click the "Restore" button.
- In the window that opens, click the button for selecting the archive file
.
- Open the storage location where your backup archives are located
and select the desired archive. If you have several archives, pay
attention to the file name, in it you will see the date and time when
the archive was created.
IMPORTANT! |
When restoring data, Boards
and notes from the archive WILL BE ADDED to the existing Boards and
notes! If you already have Boards and Notes in the application, you
will receive a warning about this. To avoid duplicating, you can delete
existing Boards and Notes before restoring. |
- After selecting the archive file, the "Start" button is enabled.
After clicking this button, the data from the archive will be loaded
into the application. While downloading data, it is advisable not to
turn off the phone and not switch to other applications.
ATTENTION! |
Before restoring the data, the archive file is copied from
the storage location to the application folder in the internal memory
of the device. Therefore, before restoring data from the backup
archive, make sure that the internal memory has enough free space! |
Interaction with Google Drive sync
If you are using backup archiving in conjunction with Google Drive sync, you should consider the following:
- If synchronization with Google Drive is enabled, then all
operations with Boards and notes in the background will be
performed for data saved on Google Drive. That is, if you decide to
delete the data before uploading the archive, then it will be deleted
from Google Drive as well, and when restoring data from the archive,
this data will be automatically sent to Google Drive.
- Background sync operations with Google Drive take some time to
complete, so try to pause between editing notes and make backup
archives, and after restoring data from the archive. During this pause,
try not to close the application or turn off the phone.
IMPORTANT! |
If you find problems in the operation of backup archiving, DO
NOT write about it in the application review and don't give a low
rating! This will spoil the rating of the application, greatly upset
the developers, but will not help in solving the problem! In this case,
you need to send us a letter to m.kadykov@gmail.com with a detailed description of the problem. This will help you, us, and other users of the application! |
